Schools reject claims Tipp students are running wild

Claims that Tipperary teens are running amuck during school lunch hours is being strongly refuted.

Hundreds of students descend on the county's town centres at 1 o'clock every day with some members of the public complaining that they blatantly walk in front of traffic, shove people off pavements and generate litter and feel they should remain within the school walls for the hour.

However school representatives insist they don't have the funding or facilities to allow students to have lunches on campus

Local authorities are being urged to provide youth centres for teens to meet both during lunch and at evenings to avoid mass crowds descending on town centres.
