A number of heritage sites across the country – including the Rock of Cashel – could be a step closer to international recognition today.
The Arts and Heritage Minister is hosting a meeting of international experts in Dublin today – which aims to help a number of historic sites earn UNESCO World Heritage status.
So far Ireland has three World Heritage sites – and it's hoped that places like the Rock of Cashel, the Burren and the Céide Fields could soon join them.
Minister Jimmy Deenihan says having more UNESCO sites would provide a boost to tourism and jobs.
