Tipperary Gardaí urge people no to put their lives at risk during Storm Éowyn

Taking to the roads during the Status Red Weather Alert is not only putting your own life in danger but also that of others is the stark warning from Tipperary Gardaí ahead of Storm Éowyn.

Inspector James White of Thurles Garda station says don’t drive unless it is absolutely necessary.

“We’re going to have a lot of issues on the roads so the appeal to people and the advice – and it’s a very direct strong advice – Do Not Drive.

During the Red Weather event from 6am until 11am and I would say even an hour or two after that do not drive unless it is extremely, extremely necessary. You’re putting yourself in danger, you’re putting other road users and you’re putting my colleagues – emergency services, council workers – in danger who may have to go out to rescue you should you be involved in an incident.”
