Garda appeal after Tipp road crash

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash on the Thurles to Nenagh road in the Ballinaclough area.

The driver of one of the cars suffered serious injuries in the collision near Ballinamona Cross shortly after 5 o’clock yesterday and was rushed to Galway University Hospital. His condition isn’t said to be life threatening.

3 units of the fire brigade – 2 from Nenagh and 1 from Cloughjordan – attended the scene close to JJ Kavanagh’s bus depot along with ambulance personnel, paramedics and local gardaí.

The road was closed for several hours from the Latteragh bends to Ballinamona Cross which lead to long delays but reopened around nine and the last fire tender left the scene at 9.30.
