An independent Councillor has warned that he will vote against revised plans for traffic calming measures in Tipperary Town if local residents are unhappy with them.
The original proposals for the Davitt Street area had met with strong opposition as locals felt they would do away with a number of parking spaces and restrict access for emergency services and delivery vehicles.
The County Council agreed to re-examine the plans drawn up by the National Roads Authority – these are due to be completed soon and will go on display at the Council Offices in Tipp Town.
Local Councillor Denis Leahy says it's vital that the views of residents on the revised plans are taken on board – if they’re not then he says he will not be supporting them.
Fine Gael representative Michael Fitzgerald has been unimpressed with the NRA's approach to some projects in the past, referring to current works in the village of Thomastown where he says changes have been made without consultation.
He says it's important that agreement is reached with residents on Davitt Street and also that the National Roads Authority then stick to the plan.
