Fresh plans for the long awaited Templemore Flood Relief scheme are set to be unveiled to the public later today.
The scheme, which the town has been waiting for for decades, will be unveiled by Minister for the Office of Public Works Simon Harris this afternoon.
It's hoped that work on the plan will finally get underway later this year.
This is the third time that plans for the long awaited scheme to combat continuous flooding in Templemore are set to go on public display.
Despite public consultations in 2009 and again in 2014, further changes to the design, mean that it has to go back on display.
The scheme includes the construction of a new bypass channel, along with road and property – access bridges, flood defence walls, embankments and some channel widening downstream of the town itself.
Flooding has been an ongoing problem in the area since the 1960's, particularly in the Blackcastle area of the town.
It's expected the project will cost over €8 million and the OPW says it expects work to begin before the end of 2015 and last 2 years
The details of the Scheme will be available for inspection in Templemore Library and the Council Offices in Nenagh until Friday, April 24th.
