Review leads to changes at Tipperary fire stations

Several months ago, equipment was moved from stations in South Tipperary to North Tipperary – the move was heavily criticised by councillors who claimed that services in the south of the county were being downgraded.

As part of a full review, Tipperary's Chief Fire Officer Dave Carroll told councillors at their monthly meeting that the saws will be located at six stations from now on with officers to get specialised training…the stations are Clonmel, Tipp town, Cashel, Templemore, Newport and Borrisokane.

Independent representative Andy Moloney has welcomed the clarification and that the situation will remain under review if needed

Councillor Moloney has been very vocal on the issue since the saws were removed from some locations in South Tipp saying he feared that services were being lost for the area.
