The friary, founded in 1269, has been a vital part of Clonmel’s spiritual and cultural heritage for over 750 years.

Speaking with Tipp FM, Deputy McGrath has said that the community is in shock.

He says there is not enough time for the proper formal meetings before the closure of the Friary.

He has called for an urgent meeting with Br. Aidan McGrath, Minister Provincial of the Franciscan Province of Ireland, to discuss the situation.
