The Franciscan Order will take their efforts to have a group occupying the Friary in Clonmel removed back to the High Court today.

The Abbey House of Prayer Group had been keeping the church on Abbey Street open since the Friars departed – however the order decided to completely close the Friary on December 31st last.

The group have maintained a sit-in since then in opposition to the closure.

The Franciscans recently took High Court proceedings to have them removed with the case adjourned on Tuesday until this afternoon to allow the judge to consider the case.
