It's claimed up to a dozen jobs have already been cut and the drinks giant is now seeking a further ten voluntary redundancies there along with 10 more office staff nationwide.
Earlier this week a section of staff at the C&C Bulmers plant voted for industrial action in a dispute over a redundancy agreement.
Sources within C&C have told Tipp Fm that in recent weeks the company outsourced part of their logistics operation at the former Gleeson's plant which resulted in up to 12 drivers- some of them with up to 30 years service- being made redundant. Its understood Lucy transport has taken over the contract but the Gleeson’s trucks are all parked up in Borris.
The drinks giant – which took over Gleeson’s in late 2012 – is also seeking 10 or 11 voluntary redundancies from within its sales reps division at the Mid Tipp plant while it’s also looking to cut ten office staff from across the group.
In a move which has created further concern for staff – the company is allegedly no longer producing 2 litre bottles of Tipperary water and has reduced production on a number of other lines including Country Spring while it’s outsourced delivery of other products.
This comes just days after Mandate union staff at the C&C Bulmers plant in Clonmel voted in favour of industrial action. It follows what they say is “the company’s decision to renege on the terms of a 2009 collective agreement regarding redundancy.
