Two men have been arrested in connection with an armed raid on a Post Office in South Tipperary.

The owner of Grange Post Office was viciously assaulted during the course of the robbery on Wednesday afternoon.

Two men armed with a shotgun and a hurley carried out the raid.

Gardai from Cahir and Clonmel arrested two local men in their 20's in the Knocklofty area yesterday afternoon in connection with the Post Office raid.

The pair are being held at Cahir Garda station.
