It’s claimed rural businesses in Tipperary will suffer due to the closure of their post offices.

Five Tipperary locations are earmarked to shut their doors – Littleton, Ballingarry, Templetuohy, Gortnahoe and Clogheen.

A public meeting was held in Littleton last night to discuss the impending closure, following on from a number of meetings held in other areas affected across the county in recent weeks.

Rural post offices have been under threat for some time as An Post tried to make much needed cost savings.

However, Littleton based Fianna Fail Councillor Seán Ryan says it’s going to affect rural businesses too.
