A Tipperary TD has defended his actions as vice chair of the Public Accounts Committee in relation to financial irregularities at the Garda College in Templemore.

Labour’s Alan Kelly was reacting to allegations that plans to bring the training college under the National Procurement Agency could impact on jobs there.

Speaking on Tipp Today last week fellow Tipperary TD Michael Lowry also insisted there was no wrong doing at the Garda College and that the actions of the PAC were overzealous.

However today Deputy Kelly hit back saying he was merely doing what had to be done as a member of the committee.
