The Transport Committee is seen as one of the key bodies and will be chaired by Clonmel Fine Gael Deputy Michael Murphy.
The first time TD was informed by Fine Gael leader and Tánaiste Simon Harris this morning.
On Tipp Today earlier Deputy Murphy said he was honoured to have been chosen to chair the Transport Committee and said he
“The N24 has to be a key issue, particularly congestion as you travel from Cahir to Tipperary and in the other direction towards Clonmel and on to Carrick on Suir. We’ve got significant congestion here in Clonmel – at 4 o’clock this afternoon (it will be) bumper to bumper here on the by-pass. I’d love to see the other link-roads in terms of Clonmel being developed.”
Deputy Murphy’s appointment is the second Committee chair for Tipperary as North Tipp Labour TD Alan Kelly will head up the Oireachtas Committee on Arts, Media, Communications, Culture & Sport.
