The Tánaiste says the Irish Government will have to ‘wait and see’ what Donald Trump does in relation to Ukraine.

The incoming US President has said he will stop aid to Kyiv, in an effort to end the war in one day.

Michael Martin says people shouldn’t ‘over-read’ what Mr. Trump said during his campaign.

Political scientist Dr Anthony O’Halloran has been following the US Presidential campaign closely.

The Ardfinnan native told Tipp Today earlier that Trump as President will not be like his Republican predecessors.

“Donald Trump is not a Republican in the sense that I use to understand Republicanism growing up. He’s not a Reaganite Republican, he’s not an Eisenhower Republican. Reaganite Republicanism wedded itself to NATO and would have wedded itself to Ukraine.

“His tendencies are ones really of isolation and withdrawal…would I be worried if I was a senior leader in Ukraine? I most certainly would be.”
