No resolution to Lowry speaking rights issue

The row over Tipperary TD Michael Lowry’s Dáil speaking time is set to rumble on.

Leader Mary Lou McDonald says Sinn Féin won’t accept a Government proposal aims at resolving the issues around speaking rights for the Tipperary TD’s Regional Group of Independents.

A heated meeting of the Dáil reform committee went on for three hours yesterday without resolution.

It’s understood the government compromise was to give over a slot at Leaders’ Questions given to Deputy Lowry and his group.
