Michael Lowry’s planning to make a personal statement when the Dail come back next month to address what he described as a smear against him.
In a statement to TippFM News the local TD says Sinn Fein’s Pearse Doherty availed of Dail Privilege on Thursday to make new allegations about the Indepenendents’ dealings with the Moriarty Tribunal.
Deputy Lowry says he has sent a letter to the Office of Ceann Comhairle formally requesting an opportunity to make a personal statement on the floor of the Dail.
The Dail has been suspended until the 5th of February and the Tipperary North TD says he will not be making any further comment until then.
the full statement from Deputy Lowry is as follows:
”Yesterday 23rd January Pearse Doherty T.D. availed of Dail Privilege to make so called new allegations in respect of my dealings with the Moriarty Tribunal.
Within hours of it being brought to my attention I delivered a letter to the Office of Ceann Comhairle.
I formally requested an early opportunity to make a personal statement on the floor of the Dail to address this smear.
Until then I will not be making any comment. ”
