Tipperary TD Mattie McGrath has denied he was involved in a scuffle with a member of Independent Ireland in the Dáil chamber.
The Clonmel Deputy described yesterday’s Dáil row as a sad spectacle given the many difficulties facing people across the country at the moment.
There were reports the Independent representative was himself involved in an altercation with Limerick Deputy Richard O’Donoghue.
However on Tipp Today Mattie said there was no substance to the claims.
“Totally lies. The whole opposition were goading and jeering and booing and all kinds of insults at me when I was walking out.
“I said something back to Michael Collins – I never addressed Richard O’Donoghue. He wanted to get in the news – total and absolute scurrilous lies and the video will show that. There was no indication of any squaring up. I was talking to Deputy Collins certainly but never addressed Deputy O’Donoghue good, bad or indifferent.”
