Tipperary Independent TD Mattie McGrath has defended his decision to vote for Micheál Martin as Taoiseach.
However the Newcastle Deputy says he will continue to be one of the Fianna Fáil leaders strongest critics.
Mattie McGrath recently joined forces with Michael Lowry’s Regional Independents Group in order to secure speaking rights in the Dáil.
On Tipp Today earlier Deputy McGrath said – he was effectively left with no option if he wanted to have his voice heard.
“I’ve been accused many times of being in eternal opposition and being too negative. There was no other option that day – I could have abstained, I could have voted Níl but I chose not to because the Government is formed and is going to be there so we have to deal with them rather than undermining them. And I will as I said continue to challenge their policies on immigration and housing.”
