Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy has survived a confidence vote in the Dáil.
She won the ballot 96 votes to 71 – with two abstentions.

The opposition broadly expressed no confidence in the Ceann Comhairle after her handling of last week’s speaking time row for Thurles TD Michael Lowry and his Regional Independents.
She has denied any suggestion of bias towards the Government.
Labour TD Ciaran Ahern was one of those to criticise the role of Michael Lowry in this Government.
