Michael Lowry has now admitted he made what he’s described as ”an errant gesture under provocation” in the Dáil yesterday to opposition TD Paul Murphy.

The People before Profit deputy was filming the chaotic scene after the government rammed through changes to the standing orders in an efforts to resolve the row over speaking time for the Tipperary Independent and his Regional Group.

In a statement to Tipp FM News this afternoon Deputy Lowry says the two-fingered gesture was not made with malicious intent and has been taken out of context.

Meanwhile – speaking to Tipp FM last night after returning to Thurles from the Dáil he said he’d never seen worse behaviour from the opposition.
