Fianna Fáil have selected their candidate for the Tipperary South Constituency in the forthcoming General Election.
The party held its selection convention at Bru Boru in Cashel last night.
Balingarry based Councillor Imelda Goldsboro received the nomination.
She contested the 2020 General Election in the 5-seater county-wide constituency.
Imelda thinks this combined with her experience as a County Councillor will stand to her in the new 3-seater Tipperary South battle.
“I’m eleven years as a Councillor – the last time was my first time out (in a General Election). People seem to know me a lot more this time. I’ve more experience and looking at the ticket for the moment it seems I’m the only female on the ticket for Tipperary South.”
The battle for the three seats in Tipperary South in the General Election is too hard to call at the moment according to Imelda Goldsboro.
With two sitting TDs and a number of County Councillors already with their hat in the ring Councillor Goldsboro expects it to be a close contest.
“It’s very hard to predict it at the moment to be honest. There’s quite a number of candidates in the race and I’m sure there’ll be another one or two added on as well. I couldn’t call it – you have some experienced candidates, some TDs that are there so its very hard to know what the outcome is going to be. That’s up to the public on the day.”
