Fianna Fáil will hold a selection convention this evening to choose a candidate for the Tipperary North Constituency.
Sitting County Councillors Michael Smith and Ryan O’Meara have both put their names forward with some suggestions that party HQ might opt to put both names on the ballot paper.
The constituency includes part of County Kilkenny.
A long standing Noreside Fianna Fáil Councillor in Kilkenny says Cloughjordan’s Ryan O’Meara has impressed him.
Pat Fitzpatrick is one of three party members in the Castlecomer district who have endorsed the young Fianna Fáil representative for the selection of a candidate in Tipperary North.
Councillor Fitzpatrick says he got to know Ryan O’Meara during his time as PA to Deputy Jackie Cahill who will not be standing due to health issues.
The Fianna Fáil selection convention takes place at 8.30 tonight in Templemore.
