The President of the EU Commission has been invited to Tipperary to see the impact of potential US tariffs would have.
Ireland South MEP Cynthia Ní Mhurchú has written to Ursula Von Der Leyen inviting her to Tipp and neighbouring counties next month to tour our pharmaceutical and medical technology sector.
MEP Ní Mhurchú says it would be of benefit for President Von Der Leyen to see how important the Pharma sector is as she will be discussing tariffs with President Donald Trump.
“With over 2,500 people employed in Tipperary alone in companies like Boston Scientific, Abbot and MSD Ballydine this is or would be a very important visit. So I want President Von Der Lyon to see for herself that we’re not talking about isolated factories but rather operations that are deeply, deeply integrated into our local communities in Tipperary.”
