DPP to consider Garda file on Moriarty Tribunal

The Director of Public Prosecutions is now in possession of the Garda file on the Moriarty Tribunal.

The long-running criminal investigations into payments to politicians is now complete according to the Irish Times, almost 14 years after it began.

The tribunal found former Minister Michael Lowry was given money by businessman Denis O’Brien in return for securing the State’s second mobile phone licence, something both deny.

The now Independent Tipperary TD is currently involved in negotiations on the formation of a new government.

Its reported the DPP is likely to take some time to now consider the evidence gathered by Gardaí.
