Council to mark passing of former Mayor of Tipp Town

A special meeting of the Tipperary-Cahir-Cashel Municipal District will be held this afternoon as a mark of respect to Mary Swords who was a former member of Tipperary Urban Council.

The former Mayor of Tipp Town passed away last Thursday at Tipperary University Hospital

As well as her political life Mary was also involved in a number of community groups such as the local Musical Society, the Tipperary Peace Convention and the St John’s Famine Graveyard Committee.

Mary will be laid to rest following 12 noon mass in St Michael’s Church, Tipp Town tomorrow.

The members of the Tipp – Cahir – Cashel District will meet at the Civic Offices on Rosanna Road in Tipp Town this afternoon at 4.30.
