Cllr Browne: SF will not change abstentionist stance

Sinn Fein says they will not be changing their policy of abstention from the British parliament.

After the SDLP and the UUP were wiped out in the latest elections the DUP – who are in talks to form a new government with the Conservatives – are the only representative who will take their seats in the House of Commons in Westminster.

There’s been calls for Sinn Fein to take up their seats this time around so that Irish nationalism has a voice in UK politics.

But Tipperary Councillor Martin Browne says that will never happen.
