Ahearn re-elected to Seanad

Counting has concluded for the Seanad’s five vocational panels, which make up 43 of the 60 seats.

Tipperary’s Garret Ahearn has retained his seat for Fine Gael on the Administrative Panel.

There was no joy for Tipperary County Councillors Declan Burgess on the Industrial and Commercial Panel, Imelda Goldsboro on the Agricultural Panel, Mairín McGrath on the Cultural and Educational Panel or Richie Molloy on the Administrative Panel.

The National University of Ireland and Trinity College have also elected another three senators each.

The final 11 will be announced by Taoiseach Micheál Martin later in the week.
