It's claimed Nenagh could be held to ransom by proposals from a local long established company to use wind energy to cut their fuel bill.
Proctor and Gamble has advertised that it’s seeking planning for a for a single auto production turbine with a height of 85 metres and a diameter of 92 metres in the area.
The company currently employ 250 people at their plant on the Gortlandroe Industrial Estate and it believes the turbine would cuts its fuel costs by three quarters of a million Euro a year.
While accepting that Proctor & Gamble have been good employers in Nenagh, Councillor Lalor McGee fears it could set an unwelcome precedent – However Mayor Jimmy Moran disagrees and hopes it will sustain jobs and boost further employment,
