A site off the M8 near Cahir is once again the subject of an appeal to An Bord Pleanala.

John O'Leary was recently refused permission for a development at Scartnaglorane on the Cork side of Cahir.

His plans included a service station with shop, a cafe – takeaway and an off licence along with parking for 27 heavy goods vehicles and 30 cars near Junction 11 Cahir South.

Mr. O'Leary has now taken his case to the state planning appeals board who are due to rule by late December.

In 2010 South Tipperary County Council also refused John O'Leary permission for a truck stop and driver rest area with a restaurant on the same site – at the time this was successfully appealed to An Bord Pleanala.
