The landmark site on the Davis Road has been vacant since the 5th Infantry Battalion left the barracks in March of last year.
South Tipperary County Council has been in discussions with the Department of Defence and the likely tenants for the site, An Garda Siochana, L.I.T and the Education Training Board.

The plan is to create a civic, cultural and educational quarter.
Director of Services Sinead Carr says the talks have teased out viability of the project and what the various groups envisaged happening.
