Meanwhile a planning application has been lodged with the County Council for an expansion of the facilities at St Joseph's Primary School in Templemore.

A new single story extension is planned to the side of the existing school – this will include a new classroom and 2 Special Education Teacher rooms

The school at the junction of Mary Street and Church Road in Templemore is also a protected structure.

Finally a new boundary wall is planned between Thurles CBS Secondary School and the adjacent Confraternity Hall.  The proposals would entail the partial demolition of the existing boundary wall at the school on O'Donovan Rossa Street, Templemore Road.
