There's good news for residents of Thurles this morning as a major upgrade of the public water system is to go ahead in early August.

Councillors were briefed on the plans last evening for the biggest water upgrade in the town for over 100 years.
Sinn Fein's David Doran has welcomed the €1.5 million project which entails the upgrade of 3.6 kilometres of pipe and will alleviate problems with low pressure and water leaks
The work is due to start on August 6th and will take until the first quarter of 2014 to complete.
