There are proposals to erect a plaque in memory of the late Vincent Hanley in his native Clonmel.

Independent Councillor Richie Molloy made the call at this weeks meeting of Clonmel Borough Council.

He says Vincent Hanley played huge role in introducing new music to a generation and also introduced music TV to Ireland.

Councillor Molloy says the Hanley family are in agreement that a suitable plaque could be erected at the family home on Kickham Street.

The proposal was unanimously adopted by the local council and a sub committee has been formed to work on the proposal.
