Plans for a major development off the motorway near Cahir are due to be lodged shortly with South Tipperary County Council.

John O'Leary is hoping to build a service station and food outlet at Scartnaglorane near Junction 11 of the M8.

The service station would include 8 fuel pumps and car wash together with a shop, cafe/takeaway food area and an off licence.

Two fast-fill diesel pumps and a self service truck wash also form part of the application.

Parking for 27 heavy goods vehicles or busses and 30 car parking spaces are also included.

The site in question was the subject of a previous planning application for permission for a truck stop, driver rest area and restaurant which was refused by the County Council – this was subsequently overturned on appeal by An Bord Pleanala.
