Plans to extend a Direct Provision Accommodation Centre in North Tipp have been deemed invalid.
Swiftcastle (Roscrea) Ltd is proposing to add 60 bedrooms to Racket Hall outside Roscrea.
The former hotel currently has 40 bedrooms and is home to an estimated 160 International Protection Applicants
A planning application before Tipperary County Council to increase accommodation capacity by providing 60 additional bedrooms to improve living conditions and meet demand has been deemed invalid.
The proposals also included an upgrade to the kitchen and dining areas to better serve the expanded resident population.
A report submitted with the planning application bases its figures on 240 residents and 20 staff.
It’s expected Swiftcastle will submit revised proposals to the local authority.
