A date has been set next month for a High Court hearing into a Judicial Review of the ‘Section 5’ planning exemption for Dundrum House.

Dundrum Heritage Group took the case over a lack of planning permission for extra bedrooms which is not covered by the exemption.

They are also voicing environmental concerns and arguing that the ‘Section 5’ isn’t valid because of the building’s status as a protected structure.

The Chief State Solicitor had asked the group to pause their action while an investigation was carried out but it now looks like the review will go ahead on the 28th of April.

It’s understood that the Department of Integration has agreed to delay a final decision on whether it will accept an offer to turn the local hotel into a full IPAS Accommodation Centre.
