A decision is due from Tipperary County Council today on plans for a significant solar farm in North Tipp.

Renewable Energy Systems Ltd sought planning permission last February for an 88 hectare site taking in the townlands of Kerane, Fawnlough and Ballynaclough with consent from five local landowners.

The application included a 10 year permission for construction and completion of the solar farm which would be operational for 40 years.

Further information was sought by the local authority in April and submitted towards the end of June.

A ruling is due to be issued today.
