Pilot project for additional teaching resources launched

The scheme, which is being launched today, involves 28 primary and 19 secondary schools taking part on a voluntary basis this school year.

It's in response to a report by the National Council for Special Education, which recommended a new allocation model based on the needs of each school, rather than on the diagnosed disability of individual children.

St Joseph's CBS in Nenagh and Inch National School in Mid Tipp are the Tipperary schools that will participate in the project.

Education Minister Jan O'Sullivan says this pilot project is not the full version of the new allocation plan, but it's being launched for the purpose of keeping up the momentum behind the N-C-S-E proposal.
