Permission to revamp landmark Clonmel building sought

Plans have been lodged for a change of use of the former bank site at 5 and 6 O'Connell Street.

Kamel Birem is proposing a mixed use development of the property with a restaurant on the ground floor and apartments on the first and second floors.

The former National Irish Bank premises has been unused for a number of years. 

The planning application says if granted permission the new restaurant will employ 6 to 8 people.

Kamel Birem currently runds Galileo in Clonmel and Lava Rock restaurant in Cahir.
