The planning application for outline permission for the nursing home to the north of Clonmel was lodged with Tipperary County Council last April.

The proposals from Richard Norris are for a 2.1 hectare site at Glenconnor.

The planning authority sought further information towards the end of May following which planning permission has now been granted, subject to 6 conditions.

The nursing home facility will have a maximum of 130 bedrooms and has the capacity to create nearly 60 jobs when up and running.

This would include 45 nurses and 14 general staff.

The site in question was part of a much larger one on which proposals for nearly 600 homes were refused by Tipperary County Council in 2007.
