The vice-chairman of the Public Accounts Committee says it’s report on financial irregularities in the Garda Training College in Templemore is ’embarrassing’ for the Gardai.
Tipp TD Alan Kelly is calling for the resignation of Noirin O’Sullivan from her post as Garda Commissioner after the report found several failures on her part, as well as failings at senior management level and within the Department of Justice.
The PAC report also found that there was a culture of withholding information and keeping matters internal to avoid scrutiny – the PAC still don’t know if An Garda Siochana are tax compliant.
