OPW Minister to visit Templemore

The future of Templemore Golf Club may become a bit clearer later this week.

OPW Minister Kevin “Boxer” Moran is to visit the town to discuss a range of issues affecting the area.

The ownership of the club – which is linked to the Garda Training College – has been in question following a report early last year which suggested the course may be handed over to public ownership through the OPW.

Labour TD Alan Kelly – who organised this week’s visit by the Minister – says it’s vital that the golf club remains open to the public.

The OPW Minister will also update locals in Templemore on the flood relief plans for the area.

During his trip he will see a number of OPW owned houses in Templemore which are unoccupied at present.

The Minister will also view lands which are available in the area for the future expansion of the Garda College in the years ahead.

Long awaited flood relief works for Templemore will also be on the agenda according to Deputy Kelly.
