South Tipperary is losing out in plans to form one single county wide local authority in Tipperary.

That was the view expressed by Fianna Fail Councillor Siobhán Ambrose at this weeks meeting of the south Tipp authority.

She was responding to proposals in a draft plan which is to be sent to the Local Government Minister Phil Hogan at the end of the month.

The current plan would see the Directorates of Finance, Roads and Planning based in Nenagh with Clonmel being home to such areas as Water and Environment.

Councillor Ambrose feels this makes South Tipperary the “poor sister”, a feeling which was echoed by Independent Tom Wood.

However the Fine Gael pair of Liam Ahearne and Mary Hanna Hourigan took a different view, saying all of the services headquartered in North Tipp will be echoed in South Tipp.
