The mobile unit of the Irish Blood Transfusion Service will be at the Cahir House Hotel from 5pm this evening for a special clinic.
Around 3% of the population currently donate blood on a regular basis with the IBTS appealing to people who don't normally donate, or those who may never have done it before to make a special effort to do so.
Around 90 thousand people were contacted in recent weeks after the IBTS identified a problem with a new test which failed to identify all donors with anaemia.
Ann O'Donovan from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service says the problems with testing equipment have been rectified and donors will now undergo small blood test for their iron levels.
