It's hoped significant progress can be made shortly on the town park project in Thurles.

The matter was raised at this weeks meeting of Thurles Town Council by Jim Ryan who received the support of his fellow Councillors that the project proceed without any further delay.

Councillor Ryan says people should not have to go to neighbouring towns to enjoy the benefits of a town park.

Council officials say negotiations are ongoing with a landowner in Thurles and that progress should be made before the end of the year. Funding is already in place for the project.
