The services of the Air Ambulance was required and one person – who it’s understood was trapped in their vehicle for a time was airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
Gardai say the road will be closed for several hours to allow for a forensic collision investigation and several diversions are in place.

Trucks are being advised to avoid the N62 completely between Thurles and Templemore and are being diverted via Borrisoleigh.
Cars meanwhile can travel the N62 but are then being diverted through Loughmore.
Lengthy delays are expected area Gardaí are also advising motorists to avoid the N62 if at all possible.
