Obama surprised at lack of Household Charge last year

As the Taoiseach pays a visit to Barack Obama – the US President's distant relative Henry Healy from Moneygall on the Tipp – Offaly border says that during his visit to Ireland – Mr Obama was surprised that the household charge wasn't already in existence.

President Obama paid a visit to his ancestral home in Moneygall during the historic trip last year – and asked what Irish people were talking about.

And when Henry told him about the new household charge – the President was taken aback.

There are just 11 days left to register for the €100 charge.
