Obama appeals for calm following police shooting

A former US Marine's opened fire killing several police in Louisiana – the fourth fatal shooting in America involving officers within the last fortnight.

Three police were killed and three others were injured in Baton Rouge.

The officers were targeted by Gavin Long, a black man who'd reportedly posted messages online criticising the treatment of African-Americans by police.

Governor of Louisiana John Bel Edwards, says enough is enough while US president has condemned the fatal shooting of the police officers, saying these attacks are happening far too often.

Barack Obama wants people to unite against hatred.
