North Tipp rate cut welcomed by local businesses.

Businesses across North Tipperary have welcomed the cut in commercial rates passed by the County Council at their Budget meeting.

In passing its book of estimates for 2014, North Tipp county council agreed to reduce its rates by 1.67 percent, bringing it to 11.6 percent.

Apart from Thurles Town Council, the rest of the town, borough and county councils in the county have left rates unchanged in their budgets for next year.

Nenagh and Templemore town councils have yet to hold their meetings, they will take place in the New Year.

President of Roscrea Chamber of Commerce Seamus Brown says the cut in rates is very welcome in the current economic climate.
